This well-respected, and very much sought-after Tax & MOT exempt 1977 Kawasaki KZ650B has recently been imported from North America where it has spent all its life – the climate is far kinder to motorcycles than ours.
As you can see this bike has a few parts missing – Mirrors, Grabrail, battery & front indicators being the most obvious. It has stood a while, so the paintwork is faded, tyres & seat cover are perished, master cylinder is not working, tank is mucky inside, much of the bright chrome is pitted including the engine casings. The wiring loom is a bit of a mess.Sadly, the engine has some fin damage on the r/h side.
The wheels look straight with clean chrome rims.
Forks & yokes look straight with good chrome.
Mudguards are both solid, but chrome is thin on the front.
Taillight assy is good as are the headlight hangers.
Instruments look ok.
Carburettors are free sliding off the twist grip.
Paintwork is faded but solid, fuel tank needs a flush-clean inside.
Exhausts are non-original & solid.
Seat base is in good condition throughout.
The engine turns over nicely off the kick starter, but the starter clutch is slipping off the electric starter – sounds/feels ok & has compression - We have had it firing/running on easystart spray, but the fuel system & carbs will need attention.
