This well-respected, and very much sought-after Tax & MOT exempt 1980 Suzuki GS1000GL has recently been imported from North America where it has spent all its life – the climate is far kinder to motorcycles than ours.

This and the fact it's only showing 8752 miles and has been in dry storage for a considerable time have helped maintain its boyish good looks.

As you can see this bike has a few parts missing – Mirrors, grabrail & standard airbox being the most obvious. It has stood a while, so the battery is flat, paintwork is faded, tyres are perished, master cylinders are not working, tank is mucky inside & much of the bright chrome is lightly pitted.

The wheels look straight with nice clean alloy, good looking discs & calipers.

Forks & yokes look straight with good chrome & clean alloy.

Mudguards are both solid.

Taillight assy is good as are the headlight & hangers.

Instruments & switches look good.

Carburettors are free sliding off the twist grip.

Exhaust is a non-standard 4:1 Kerker.

Seat base is in good condition throughout.

  The engine is cosmetically clean - We have had it firing/running on easystart spray but the fuel system & carbs will need attention.
