1978 Honda GL1000 Gold Wing Unregistered US Import Classic Running Restoration
This well-respected, and very much sought-after Tax & MOT exempt 1978 Honda GL1000 Gold Wing has recently been imported from North America where it has spent all its life – the climate is far kinder to motorcycles than ours. This and the fact it's only showing 18877 miles and has been in dry storage for a considerable time have helped maintain its boyish good looks.
As you can see this bike has a few parts missing – Indicators, grabrail & l/h side panel badges being the most obvious. It has stood a while, so the battery is flat, paintwork is faded, tyres are perished, master cylinders are not working.
This is the actual bike you are bidding on – Not library pictures. The wheels look straight as do the forks & yokes but legs are lightly pitted. Mudguards are both solid but front is dented & chrome is peeling on rear. Taillight assy is good as are the headlight & hangers. Instruments & switches look good. Carburettors are free sliding off the twist grip. Exhausts are original & appear to be solid. K&Q Seat is in good condition throughout.
The engine is cosmetically clean - When we hooked it up to a good battery & fed it fresh fuel, it fires, starts, runs & revs but it is obvious the carbs need attention.
