1978 Honda CX500 Unregistered US Import Clean Classic Running Restoration Project
This Tax and MOT exempt 1978 Honda CX500 has recently been imported from North America where it has spent all its life – the air is thin and the climate is far kinder to motorcycles than ours.
As you can see this bike has a few parts missing – l/H side panel emblem being the most obvious. We also noted that; there is a tear in the seat cover, the front brake doesn't work, there are a few marks in the faded paint and the latch to the petrol cap doesn't seem to want to close.
The wheels are straight with nice clean rims and working rear brake. The forks and yokes look straight with good chrome. The tail light assy is good as are the headlight and shroud. Instruments and switches look ok. The carburettors are sliding but the throttle does feel a bit stiff. The paintwork is slightly faded and has a few scratches throughout, fuel tank is clean inside. The seat base is in good condition throughout. The indicators are tidy. Both mud guards are solid. The standard exhaust is solid. The engine is cosmetically clean.
BUT BEST OF ALL when we fed some fresh fuel to the carb and hooked it up to a good battery we had it firing/running & revving.
