This well-respected, and very much sought-after Tax & MOT exempt 1978 Honda CB400A Hondamatic has recently been imported from North America where it has spent all its life.

This and the fact it's only showing 6826 miles and has been in dry storage for a considerable time have helped maintain its boyish good looks.

While it looks entirely plausible, we have been unable to confirm this mileage reading. Please disregard it.

PLEASE CHECKOUT THE PICTURES. 

As you can see this bike has a few parts missing – Mirrors, Honda badge from bottom yoke, front indicators & fuel cap being the most obvious.

It has stood a while, so the battery is flat, tyres & seat cover are perished, master cylinder is not working.

Sadly, the bulk of the bright chrome is lightly pitted.

BUT NOW FOR THE GOOD NEWS.

This is the actual bike you are bidding on – Not library pictures.

The wheels look straight with nice clean alloy rims, good hubs & brake plate, disc & caliper.

Forks & yokes look straight.

Mudguards are both solid.

Taillight assy is good as are the headlight hangers.

Instruments & switches look good.

Carburettors are free sliding off the twist grip.

Paintwork is solid, fuel tank is useably clean inside and has just minor dents/marks & scratches in the original paint.

Exhausts are original & appear to be solid.

Seat base feels solid.

Chain guard is tidy as is the grab rail.

The engine is cosmetically clean.

We have had it firing/running on easystart spray but the fuel system & carbs will need attention.
